'Whitney' Ratings Don't Improve, Tie Series Low

'Whitney' Ratings Don't Improve, Tie Series Low Do Thursday-night ratings this season beyond the stellar "Bones" and "The X Factor" returns have you scratching your head?

Yeah, this week won't help that.

Despite an appearance by "Chelsea Lately" host - and author of the book of the same name that inspired NBC's Jan. 11-debuting "Are You There Vodka? It's Me Chelsea" - Chelsea Handler, "Whitney" just couldn't catch a break.

In fact, it matched its series-low viewership with 4 million viewers tuning in for a 1.9 among the always-prized 18-49 demographic.

And yet, there's still not so much as a hint suggesting when "Community" will come off hiatus, despite almost matching the "Whitney" rating with 3.9 million sets of eyeballs and a 1.7 rating overall.

To the surprise of nobody, "Bones" and "The X Factor" once more ruled the night. "Bones" pulled a 2.8 rating with 8.8 million viewers, while eliminations of Astro and Drew on "The X Factor" pulled 10.2 million and a 3.1 itself, giving FOX the Thursday-night duke.

Elsewhere, NBC came in fourth-place overall, with "The Office" garnering 5.7 million viewers and a 2.9 and "Parks and Recreation" earning 3.7 million and a 1.8.

ABC had a decent evening, with "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" getting 7.2 million viewers and a 2.2 rating and "CMA Country Christmas" getting 9 million viewers and a 2.1.
