The pretty brunette responded positively to suggestions that she should play Anastasia Steele in the upcoming adaptation of “50 Shades of Grey.”
“Thanks! i would be down,” Ritter replied eagerly, along with a winking face.
The 31-year-old is throwing her hat into the mix with the likes of Lucy Hale, Felicity Jones, and fan favorite Emilia Clarke.
Universal Pictures and Focus Features have acquired the rights to the sexy book series by Erika Leonard, who writes under the pseudonym "E. L. James.”
Writer Kelly Marcel has been fingered to write the screenplay, and Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti, with the help of James herself, will be producing.
"Kelly's work demonstrates her flawless structural technique and passionate commitment to emotion, humor and depth of character which is particularly visible in the celebrated screenplay for the upcoming 'Saving Mr. Banks,'" De Luca said of their pick.
Marcel has written "Saving Mr. Banks.” Currently in production, it deals with the 20-year effort on the part of Walt Disney to grab the film rights to “Mary Poppins,” and stars Tom Hanks, Emma Thompson, and Colin Farrell.
She has also written for the FOX series “Terra Nova.”
"We were all taken with the depth and passion of Kelley's engagement with the characters and world E L James has created and we knew she was the right person to augment our Fifty Shades family," says Brunetti.
