When Is The 'Hunger Games' Advance Ticket Release Date?

Slowly but surely, "The Hunger Games" is releasing new pieces of information about the movie while building up to the big release in March. So far, we've seen a motion poster, an online puzzle hunt, and of course the full "Hunger Games" trailer. Now, Lionsgate has some new info: when you can get your advance tickets!

Advance tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, February 22nd. That's quite a long time in advance of the March 23rd release date... in fact, it's a full 74 days in advance.

There's no doubt that "The Hunger Games" is a highly anticipated movie, perhaps even more so than "Breaking Dawn Part 2" is, but 74 days is still a pretty wide window for pre-sales of tickets. So what gives?

Here's the secret, and it's one that only the sharpest of "Hunger Games" fans will catch: In the story, Katniss competes in the Games, which are held every year. The competition that she takes part in is the 74th annual Hunger Games. Get it?

This is yet another clever move by the marketing team behind the movie. Sure, people probably won't be lining up to buy tickets 74 days in advance, but it does show that Lionsgate wants to connect with fans in the best way possible: by totally geeking out over the awesomeness of "The Hunger Games."
