Wesley Snipes Joins the New 'Expendables'

Sylvester Stallone, who will be producing the third “Expendables” film, has confirmed that Wesley Snipes will be joining his butt-kicking team.

Snipes just completed a 27-month stint in federal prison for tax evasion, and a source says that Stallone’s interest in bringing Snipes into the film came from a good place.

“Sly wants to help Wesley get back on his feet. He sees him as a super addition to ‘The Expendables’ in what will be their biggest adventure yet,” said the source, adding, “The script is being processed and Sly wants Wesley to jump on board. Filming is likely to start late this year.”

Stallone mentioned it on his Twitter, tweeting first, late at night, “Wesley Snipes is BACK!!!! … …with US.”

He updated later in a tweet that has not been removed, saying, "Wesley Snipes joined the crew tonight and that makes me damn happy. Hope Snipes brings his A-Game."

Stallone was also tweeting his interest in getting Mel Gibson on board to direct, but no word yet on whether that hope will go anywhere, and responses to his statement were largely negative when he said, "Mel is a MAGNIFICENT director! Pure passion on every level . we’d be blessed to have him. A REAL long shot, but LIFE is a long shot -right?”

Last month, Stallone told the Twitter world that he was working on the film’s script, and looking for new blood to join the cast.

Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger are currently set to appear.
