WB Announced DC Comics Movie Schedule, Includes Flash, Cyborg & Green Lantern Films

Watch out, Marvel universe...DC Comics is coming for you!

Warner Bros. announced their schedule for the DC Comics cinematic universe today, outlining their plans for a "Justice League" movie as well as solo movies for all the major players in the DC universe.

It all starts off with "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" in 2016, which we already know will feature Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. The movie might also feature cameos from other DC superheroes in order to set up their solo movies, an approach somewhat opposite to Marvel's in which solo movies led to "The Avengers."

Here's how the lineup looks so far:

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice - March 25th, 2016
Suicide Squad – August 5th, 2016
Wonder Woman - June 23rd, 2017
Justice League - November 17th, 2017
The Flash - March 23rd, 2018
Aquaman - July 27th, 2018
Shazam - April 5th, 2019
Justice League 2 - June 14th, 2019
Cyborg - April 3rd, 2020
Green Lantern - June 19th, 2020

It's interesting that the lesser-known "Suicide Squad" is second on DC's list, but given the tone (the story focuses on supervillains who become assets for the U.S. Government) it might be that DC is hoping for it to make a splash in the same way "Guardians of the Galaxy" did.

Wonder Woman is next to get her big movie, leading to the release of "Justice Leage" in the same year (2017). "The Flash" is set for 2018, which will be four years after the premiere of the CW show that also stars the character.

However, WB announced that "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" star Ezra Miller will play Flash in that film, shutting down the possibility of Grant Gustin taking the role to the big screen.

In terms of casting, we also know that "Game of Thrones" star Jason Momoa will play Aquaman in that solo film, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will play Black Adam in "Shazam."

Interestingly, WB is waiting six years to try a "Green Lantern" movie. We're guessing that's an attempt to put more distance between it and the failed Ryan Reynolds version of a few years back.
