Watch 'X Factor' Finalist Chris Rene's First Music Video, 'Young Homie'

Watch 'X Factor' Finalist Chris Rene's First Music Video, 'Young Homie' As is the case so often with vocal competition shows, it isn't so much about winning the whole thing as it is about getting a little extra exposure. If you doubt it, just as Chris Rene: the Santa Cruz native made it to the final three on "The X Factor," but ultimately placed third behind Josh Kracjik and the eventual winner Melanie Amaro.

Rene made a big splash with his audition for the show, in which he performed an original song titled "Young Homie." Rene also struck a chord with viewers with his emotional backstory, as the singer had just gotten out of rehab and was attempting to repair ties with his infant son and turn his life around.

That personal struggle explains the almost excessive positivity in the new music video for "Young Homie," which was released today following recent news that Rene would be producing an album under a new record deal. In the song, Rene sings about staying away from drugs, avoiding violence and hate, and keeping a positive outlook on life.

The whole thing is a little too 1990's for my taste, but give it a look and tell us what you think!
