Watch a 'Walking Dead' Season 3 Featurette Promising 'A Lot More Killing'

Not all zombies on "The Walking Dead" are created equal. In fact, a bunch of them are computer generated. If you knew exactly how many, you might be surprised.

This cool "Walking Dead" featurette takes us through some of the special effects-laden shots from season two, revealing a little more CGI than you might expect. The practical shots from "The Walking Dead" with those zombie extras (or lack thereof) don't always convey as much danger as the directors hoped for, so the special effects team just adds a few more CGI zombies. Why not?

It's no surprise that the final shot of the season, which revealed the prison, was mostly CGI, but it is interesting to see exactly when the shot changes from practical to virtual.

That's all pretty cool, but can we learn anything about "The Walking Dead" season 3 while we're at it? There isn't much to give away at this point, but our special effects guide does promise that there will be "a lot more killing." Sounds good! Hey, if you want to know about the level of gore, ask the guy who has to make CGI blood splatter.
