Watch Usher Open Up To Oprah Winfrey About His Stepson's Tragic Death

Watch Usher Open Up To Oprah Winfrey About His Stepson's Tragic Death Seven-time Grammy winning R&B star Usher appears to have a special, temporary gig lined up, filling in as a coach alongside latin pop star Shakira as fill-in judges for Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green on NBC's "The Voice."

Before he gets to that point, the 33-year-old entertainer opened up to Oprah Winfrey about his career, heartbreaks, mistakes and emerging from personal tragedy on OWN's "Oprah's Next Chapter" for an interview that aired Sunday evening.

She's long been sought-after as conductor of intimate, cleansing sit-down interviews for her mastery of lowering the guard of talked-about, sometimes controversial figures.

But recently, Winfrey's "Oprah's Next Chapter" chats have resulted in revealing, talked-about portraits of the tabloid-bombarding Kardashian family and Usher's fellow award-winning R&B contemporary, Rihanna. Judging from this clip, Usher seems to get out of the experience what one would expect: a soul-baring encounter with himself.

It's pretty much all there, Perez Hilton remarked - from discovering Justin Bieber and lording over the pop charts, to ugly divorce and custody battles. He also opened up about the recent death of his former stepson following injuries in a tragic jet ski accident. Kile Glover, 11-year-old son of his ex Tameka Foster, was declared brain dead July 8 after being struck by a jet ski on Lake Lanier. He then died July 21 of heart failure 15 days after being taken off life-support.

This whole tragedy unfolded as Usher and Foster were embroiled in a custody battle over the two children from their nearly two-year marriage.

"I really miss Kile," Usher told Winfrey, his voice already quavering. "You can't imagine how hard it was [being back in court after his death], I couldn't imagine how hard it was, which is part of the reason I asked that we not go back to court. It was a personal request I made to the judge ... to Tameka ... that in this personal time of grievance, she take the time to deal. Let's deal with this later."
