Watch the Trailer for the New Batman Series 'Gotham'
by Andy NeuenschwanderLadies and gentlemen, here's your first look at "Gotham."
Perhaps one of the most promising new shows scheduled for this year (at least for crime/genre fans), "Gotham" is a definite go for Fox and has it's first trailer introducing us to the characters.
For those who haven't yet heard about this particular pilot, "Gotham" is a prequel of sorts to the Batman mythos. The series is set in the titular city, and takes place right around the time when Bruce Wayne's parents were murdered.
But rather than focus on Bruce, as all television and movie versions of Batman stories have thus far, "Gotham" instead follows a young James Gordon, a cop who will later go on to become police commissioner.
As the trailer indicates, the show will not shy away from using classic Batman characters, nor will it wait until later seasons to introduce a majority of them. Even in this first trailer, we're introduced to Gordon, Bruce, The Penguin, The Riddler, Poison Ivy, and even a young Catwoman.
For the most part, though, it looks like the show will stay away from any flashy superhero-type stuff and stick to being a crime drama with the potential for bigger villains and heroes. If you want vigilantes in costumes and lab accidents that cause superpowers, we'll kindly direct you toward The CW's fine superhero series "Arrow."
