Watch The Trailer For 'Bates Motel!' See Norman Bates Before He Went Psycho...

The first trailer is out for A&E’s “Bates Motel,” and it looks… vague? Confusing?

But, admit it… intriguing.

Inspired by Hitchcock’s 1960’s classic “Psycho,” the show’s premise is following pre-killer Norman Bates and learning how one of the most infamous murderers came to be.

“Fans will have access to the dark, twisted back story and learn firsthand just how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is, and how she helped forge the most famous serial killer of them all.”

The show is being described as a cross between “Twin Peaks” and “Smallville,” and will pick up after the death of Norman Bates’ father, when mother Norma buys a motel in an attempt to start fresh with her son in White Pine Bay.

Apparently, however, the townspeople of White Pine Bay aren’t as welcoming as they look.

“Bates Motel” is executive produced by Carlton Cuse of “Lost” and Kerry Ehrin of “Friday Night Lights.”

Said Bob DeBitetto, president and GM of A&E Network and Bio Channel:

"Carlton and Kerry crafted a fascinating backstory for Norman and Norma Bates that has been brought to life by this incredible cast. It's thought-provoking television at its finest and we're thrilled to bring it to the A&E family."

The show features Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga, Max Thieriot, Nicola Peltz, and Olivia Cooke.

The show premieres March 18th at 10 pm ET/PT. Hopefully audiences will appreciate it… A&E has skipped a pilot order and gone right to ten episodes.
