Watch The New Opening For 'Bones' 8th Season
by Sean ComerAfter seven years, isn't it indeed about-bloody-time someone updated the "Bones" titles?
Considering how much the game changed for Dr. Brennan, Agent Booth and the Squints last season, it was probably unavoidable that someone should probably pipe up and wonder why the opening titles didn't reflect Team Jeffersonian's evolution. Appropriately, theme composers The Crystal Method stepped up and fiddled with their composition, giving it a different dub-step-ish grind from what's been there since the series' inception.
Still more importantly, the titles finally sync up with the changing times. In particular, the new sequence features footage of Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) fawning over the daughter Brennan gave birth to last season and Sweets - no longer strictly the meek-willed intellectual - stares down-range from behind the sights of a pistol.
Was that even a cheeky smile and wink from Brennan near the clip's end? Huh. Well, I don't know what that means, but that's certainly not the straight-laced Dr. Brennan we took down a Homeland Security agent in an airport seven years ago.
The newly unveiled opening follows the recent first full trailer for the new season, featuring Brennan and baby Christina still on the run but reunited with Booth. Safe bet where this season begins.
It's all one big tease to a few short weeks and change from now, when the new season premieres Sept. 17 on FOX.
