Watch The New 'Downton Abbey' Featurette!
by Shannon KeirnanUnfortunately, we American have a good ways to go yet before we can enjoy the third season of “Downton Abbey”—all the way until January, in fact.
But if you’re looking for some good clips and a few fun interviews to tide you over, check out the new featurette for the show.
Aside from a few short, tantalizing clips from the upcoming season, including Sybil returning home with Tom in tow, and suggestions that financial issues may be the end to Downton, the featurette also includes some words from the stars.
“To see the way we’ve been embraced in the States is… phenomenal,” says Dan Stevens, who plays the romantic, bright-eyed Matthew, gushing about the show having “cracked” America.
While Michelle Dockery, who plays his on-screen love interest, Mary, hints that after the wedding, the two will continue to entertain audiences with their passionate bickering and differences.
As everyone knows between Matthew and Mary, there’s always something, you know, to rock the romance… so it’s not suddenly easy.”
It looks like the beautiful cinematography and haunting music is all in order, and we’re promised that this season will be “completely up to standard.”
Leslie Nicols, who plays the blustering Mrs. Patmore, “genuinely” guarantees that audiences will receive as many highs and lows as we’ve come to expect and appreciate, as well as some “major shocks” this season.
What do the stars think of their new fame across the pond?
Sophie McShera, who plays Daisy, says, “It was so weird,” of getting recognized in New York. “We never get recognized in London.”
“We were absolutely mobbed by people, and that doesn’t happen here,” Nicols added.
As Laura Carmichael reminds us, the show has “16 nominations all together,” so we expect they’ve set the bar pretty high for the upcoming return.
Will you be tuning in next season?
