Watch a New TV Spot for 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' Right Here, Right Now

I should have learned by now, but I just can't help but be excited for "Transformers: Dark of the Moon." I didn't much care for either of the first two, but I hold out hope that director Michael Bay will once again unleash the same insanity that made "Bad Boys II" such a wonderful movie. When he's on, nobody makes action films as well as he does.

One unique thing we can glean from this TV spot is that Bay is at least letting his shots play out a little longer. Bay has long, and unfairly, been blamed for the no-shot-over-one-second aesthetic of modern movies, particularly modern action movies. Since he's shooting in 3D for the first time and doesn't want the audience to pass out, it makes a lot more sense for him to let some movements play out in one shot. And we're better for it - these things just look so much cooler the longer they go on.

We also get a look here at Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) reduced to a low-level while his robot friends are off saving the world, and the first bit of dialogue from Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Good, bad, or ugly, a new Michael Bay film remains a bit of an event for me, so I'll be there opening day, hoping this will be another bit of action genius. "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" comes out on June 29th.
