Watch Khal Drogo A.K.A Jason Momoa's Amazing Audition for 'Game of Thrones'
by Andy NeuenschwanderFrom the looks of this audition video, Jason Momoa was born to play Khal Drogo.
The physically imposing "Game of Thrones" actor auditioned for the role of Danaerys Targaryen's warlord husband in an unconventional way, as shown by this audition video uploaded to YouTube.
Actors going out for the role of Khal Drogo were given a simple scene to read, but according to Momoa, it was limiting. The dialogue in the audition scene mostly consisted of Drogo saying "no" over and over again. It makes sense; after all, Drogo speaks almost entirely in Dothraki in the series, and actors couldn't be asked to memorize lines in a fictional language.
So, Momoa decided to go a different route and perform a Maori war chant for his audition.
In the video, Momoa performs a Haka, a war cry from the native New Zealand tribe. The result could easily be confused for a scene from "Game of Thrones," as Momoa shows off all the ferocity of Khal Drogo without speaking a word of Dothraki or English.
Momoa has been in the news for another big role lately. Thanks to announcements from Warner Bros., we now know that the actor is set to play Aquaman in upcoming DC Comics movies, which will include a solo Aquaman movie!
