Watch The Sneak Peek Of 'Warm Bodies'
by Shannon KeirnanThe first four minutes of the upcoming “Warm Bodies” have been released to draw in future audiences. While what you see isn’t much more than what you experienced in the trailer, it’s still a promising few moments of strange zombie humor.
Our deadish hero, “R,” played by Nicholas Hoult, narrates with a sharp, self-deprecating humor that is quite a contrast to his plodding, slack-mouthed character.
“I can’t remember my name or my parents or my job, although my hoodie would suggest I was unemployed.”
While the introduction doesn’t get us far into the plot, we do get a hint of what happened that left the living dead roaming around airports looking for humans to pick off.
“I have a hard time piecing together how this whole apocalypse thing happened. Coulda been chemical warfare, or an airborne virus, or a radioactive outbreak monkey. It doesn’t really matter. This is what we are now.”
The first four minutes follow “R” as he goes on with his usual, boring routine… shuffling around, occasionally bumping into people. He has periodic flashbacks that seem to confuse him—memories of what an airport looked like when everyone there wasn’t trying to eat each other… just checking their cell phones, he remembers, as he longs for the days when he could interact with others.
That is, those aside from his grunting best friend, with whom he can sometimes exchange a full word or two.
We are also introduced to the Bonies—skeletal-like creepsters who, our hero warns, will eat anything with a heartbeat.
He amends, “I mean, I would too. But at least I’m conflicted about it.”
Also starring Teresa Palmer, Rob Corddry, John Malkovich, Analeigh Tipton, and Dave Franco, “Warm Bodies” hits theaters February of this year.
