Watch the First Trailer for 'The Muppets' TV Show
by Andy Neuenschwander
The Muppets are back! Again!
After the success of "The Muppets," the feature film written by and starring Jason Segel, ABC has decided that it's time for the Muppets to go back to television with their own primetime show. We're so happy we could do an Animal-style drum solo!
The first trailer is here, and it shows what the tone of the show will be. If you were hoping for a variety show in the style of the original "Muppet Show," we're sorry to say that it doesn't look like that's the plan here. On the plus side, what they're doing looks like it'll be a lot of fun.
The show will focus on the Muppets' "personal lives," as Kermit puts it, but there will still be some focus on the "Muppet Show" of olde as the gang is still working on it during the show. Rather than seeing the production, though, we'll go behind the scenes and see how the Muppets live their everyday lives, both personal and professional.
There are already quite a few good laughs in the trailer, including a great bit in which Gonzo calls out the faux-documentary style that became so popular with "The Office," and how it's been done to death (or has it?).
