Marvel has released an extended "Guardians of the Galaxy" trailer, featuring more than two minutes of footage. Not only is it a long trailer, but most of the footage in here is new, never-before-seen stuff.
And it looks goooooood.
The tone changes a bit here to show that, while there will be a lot of laughs and fun in this installment in the Marvel franchise, there's a serious side to it also. We get some good looks at our main villain, Ronan the Accuser (played by Lee Pace under all that makeup), and there are plenty of inspirational speeches from Star Lord (Chris Pratt) as well.
"I look around, and do you know what I see?" he asks. "Losers. I mean, like, folks who have lost stuff: their homes, their families. And we're facing a threat that could destroy us all. If we're going to save the galaxy, we're going to have to do it together. Partners."
We also get a better idea of Rocket Raccoon's personality, as played by Bradley Cooper, and it looks like he's just as badass as he is in the comics. Bonus points to Vin Diesel, too, who seems to be nailing the proper inflections for each "I am Groot" line.
"Guardians of the Galaxy" is set to premiere on August 1. Check out the extended trailer below:
