Watch 'Avengers' Deleted Scene With Stan Lee Cameo!
by Shannon KeirnanIf you watched “The Avengers” and thought, this isn’t right. Something’s missing.
Why doesn’t Captain America seem more bummed out?
What’s the backstory on this waitress?
And why the heck isn’t there more Stan Lee?
And let’s face it you probably thought all of those things, so you’re finally in luck, because here’s a little bonus video of a deleted scene that should answer all of those very specific questions.
It features a very thoughtful Captain America watching himself on television while he goes through old S.H.I.E.L.D. files—lingering over a certain “Peggy.”
Morose, Captain wanders the busy streets—with some pretty savvy “time” symbolism thrown in for the attentive watcher—and sits down at an outdoor café.
“Waiting on the Big Guy?” the waitress asks. Oooh. I see what she did there.
But no, she’s talking about Iron Man, who frequently flies past the site.
As the waitress openly flirts with the somewhat awkward Captain, Stan Lee leans over and whispers a little helpful advice about landing the pretty lady.
If you remember in the film, the waitress, played by “The Help” actress Ashley Johnson, will reappear later to stand up for the Avengers as the city falls around them.
Lee also have a brief cameo in the version of “The Avengers” that appeared on screen, but it’s little more than a quick, hey, isn’t that Stan Lee? moment.
Lee jokingly credits this cameo for the huge success of the movie, teasing that fans who missed his first appearance went back a second time to remedy the fact, and fans who went back two or three times to catch a glimpse of the Marvel icon made the blockbuster such a financial hit.
The clip is getting pulled from a lot of websites, but for now, you can still watch it here!
