Want Some Ad Time on the 'Oprah' Finale? Better Have a Million Dollars!

Want Some Ad Time on the 'Oprah' Finale? Better Have a Million Dollars! Those hoping to cash in on the finale of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" with a well-placed ad will have to already have some cash in their back pockets.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the cost of a 30-second spot during the May 25th finale of Oprah's daytime show is around $1 million. That's among the highest prices for a TV show ever, and most likely the single highest price for a daytime show.

Previous TV finales with high prices for ads include the finale of "Seinfeld," which cost advertisers $1.42 million. The finale of "Everybody Loves Raymond" cost $1.22 million per 30-second spot. The two shows delivered viewers for those advertisers, though, drawing 76.3 and 32.9 million viewers respectively.

However, even those aren't the highest prices paid by TV advertisers. In 2004, the "Friends" finale asked for nearly $2 million per 30-second spot, and last year's Super Bowl averaged about $2.5 million per ad.

Among the many season finales that the $1 million Oprah price tag tops are that of "Lost," "X-Files," and "24."

Oprah will be leaving her long-running CBS show in May in order to focus on her new network "OWN," which launched earlier this year.
