'Walking Dead''s Norman Reedus Gets Second Season of His Own Show

The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus just found out that his summer job is going to pay off even better than he first thought. AMC announced this week that it's picking up Ride with Norman Reedus for a second season, giving the popular actor something to do during TWD's next off-season.

The six-episode first season of Ride aired on AMC this past summer during TWD's hiatus. The series is a travelogue in which Reedus rides his motorcycle around the country with various friends, visiting interesting places and doing interesting things. The series' first go-round was far from a ratings hit, averaging just a .2 rating in the 18-49 age deomographic, but apparently it did well enough that AMC wants it around for another summer.

The renewal also suggests that Reedus' character will probably survive TWD's seventh season. Although Daryl is one of the characters that's potentially on the losing end of Negan's baseball bat in the season-six-ending cliffhanger, Reedus' popularity with the fans goes a long way toward insulating him from danger. This week's news also points out how much AMC values him, given that the network is willing to double down on his under-performing series.

AMC also released an official synopsis of TWD's season seven this week in anticipation of the season premiere on October 23. The synopsis didn't offer much new information about what's in store for Daryl and his friends, aside from noting that the theme of the season will be "beginning again."
