'The Walking Dead' Might Be Coming to Imax

What's scarier than a zombie? How about a zombie that's 72 feet tall?
Imax announced today that the company is considering screenings of "The Walking Dead" in Imax theaters, taking cable's biggest show and putting it up on the biggest screens. The talks between AMC and Imax come a few months after Imax and HBO teamed up to show episodes of "Game of Thrones" in theaters.
In that "Game of Thrones" deal, Imax theaters showed the final two episodes of season 4 of the hit HBO show, followed by a short sneak peek at season 5 exclusive to Imax. Presumably, a deal with AMC would be similar, with theaters showing two episodes and a sneak peek in the weeks leading up to the show's next season.
A deal has not been struck yet, though. Greg Foster, CEO of Imax Entertainment, said that while Imax is "not doing anything yet" with "The Walking Dead," showing episodes of the series is "something we'd like to do." Foster also spoke about the company's desire to find "epic content" to screen besides big-budget action movies.
In fact, Imax has been pursuing this strategy with movies as well as TV shows. Recently, the company has been screening smaller dramas and movies that don't necessarily feature big action scenes that audience have come to expect from the usual Imax fare.
"The Walking Dead" would fit in more with the stereotypical Imax experience, considering the amount of action that's been on the show in recent seasons. Just remember: you're going to be watching some big Walkers.
