'The Walking Dead' Midseason Premiere Sets Another Cable Ratings Record

'The Walking Dead' Midseason Premiere Sets Another Cable Ratings Record All you need to do to set records on cable television, apparently, is throw in some zombies.

"The Walking Dead" broke cable ratings records back in October when the show aired its season two premiere to 7.3 million viewers, a 4.8 in the 18-49 demo and a 4.2 in adults 25-54. Those numbers made "The Walking Dead" the highest-rated cable drama in those demographics, and set the tone for the coming season.

The show has done it again, it seems, as the midseason premiere episode on Sunday night surpassed even that season two premiere in October. The episode, titled "Nebraska," aired to a whopping 8.1 million viewers with a 5.4 in adults 18-49 and a 4.4 in adults 25-54. All three numbers were new highs for the show, and the two ratings in the demos were new cable records once again.

The episode was also the first in the series to be helmed entirely by new showrunner Glen Mazzara, after Frank Darabont was unceremoniously fired from the show late last year. For the most part, Mazzara seems to be handling the role well. But one of these days those guys have to get off of that farm.
