'The Voice' Update: Christina Aguilera Now Officially a Judge

PR Photos Earlier today, we reported that NBC's "The Voice" officially has its first two judges: Cee Lo Green (the soulful singer behind the hit "F*** You") and Maroon 5's Adam Levine. Well, the third judge is now official as well: pop star and vocal acrobat Christina Aguilera has signed on to judge on the show.

The addition of Aguilera confirms rumors that started last week with reports in Entertainment Weekly that Xtina was in talks for the show. This is a big get for "The Voice" as Aguilera brings the biggest star power to the show. No offense to Cee Lo and Adam, but they're not quite household names in the same way Christina is.

It should be noted that the original show on which "The Voice" is based (a Dutch show called "The Voice of Holland") uses a panel of four judges. So if "The Voice" plans on sticking with that format, there is still one more spot to fill. At this point, NBC could go for another celebrity singer, or they could opt for a Simon Cowell type, a harsher critic to off-set the commentary of the stars (which is usually less severe).

Aguilera must be looking forward to having her name attached to a project, as she recently made headlines for two incidents she would probably rather everyone forget: she botched the words to the National Anthem at the Super Bowl, and was arrested just the other day for public drunkenness.

She certainly sounded excited about it in her statement, as she gushed, "I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it. To be given the opportunity to help shape new artists’ careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms."

"I am so happy to be working with fellow Grammy Award winners Adam and Cee Lo as I feel there is so much we can all bring to 'The Voice,'" she added. Indeed, how many other shows can say they had three Grammy winners on the same panel?
