'The Voice' Judge Blake Shelton Ready to Cut 'Footloose'

'The Voice' Judge Blake Shelton Ready to Cut 'Footloose' Does the idea of "Footloose" remake send you headed to the barn ready to cut loose, or to the bathroom ready to retch? Either way, this next announcement is bound to make things better.

According to EW, country singer and "The Voice" judge Blake Shelton is slated to record the notorious theme song for the remake ("everybody cut, everybody cut..."), which was originally recorded by Kenny Loggins.

As we reported in June, the "Footloose" remake will be directed by "Hustle & Flow" director Craig Brewer.

Starring Julianne Hough (“Dancing With The Stars”), Kenny Wormald and Dennis Quaid (“The Rookie”), the movie will tell the tale of Ren McCormack (formerly Bacon, now Wormald) and his move to the little town of Bomont from his big-city life in Boston.

As with the original, a tragedy that killed five local teens brings the hammer of councilman and local Reverend Shaw Moore (Quaid here, originally played by John Lithgow), crushing music and dancing. However, Ren stands up to it and wins over Moore’s daughter Ariel (Hough) along the way.

Now if we could only get Kevin Bacon to show up for the remake, as a Bacon-to-The-Voice connection is rumored to be the Rosetta Stone of the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game.

Footloose” hits theaters everywhere Oct. 14.
