Now Vince Vaughn Might Star in 'True Detective' Season 2

Now Vince Vaughn Might Star in 'True Detective' Season 2 "True Detective" has become known for its dark storylines and dramatic performances. Vince Vaughn is known for "Wedding Crashers" and "Old School."

The two are about to collide, as rumor has it that Vaughn is in talks with HBO to star in "True Detective" season two.

Of course, rumors don't mean much, especially when it comes to "True Detective" casting. So far, there have been reports that Jessica Chastain, Taylor Kitsch, Colin Farrell, and even Brad Pitt were discussing a role with the network in the show's upcoming season.

Thus far, though, nobody has been officially signed.

Vaughn would be an interesting choice, and could reveal a lot about the tone of the second season. While Vaughn has had a dramatic role or two, including the role of Norman Bates in the remake of "Psycho," he's almost exclusively known for comedy. Since "True Detective" is an anthology show with new characters, stories and settings each season, it's entirely possible that series creator Nic Pizzolatto could be aiming for a little more levity and comedy in the upcoming season to contrast the dark and dreary first one.

In any case, "True Detective" season two should be a treat, if HBO president Michael Lombardo is to be believed. At the 2014 TCA event, he said that he didn't want to "jinx it" but he believes that the two scripts he's seen of season two are "more exciting than the first season."
