View The 'Game of Thrones' Season Three Teaser!
by Shannon KeirnanWhile there’s practically nothing that can be gleaned from the “Game of Thrones” teaser trailer, the video will give fans a quick little hit of their favorite show, and for some that's just good enough.
With only the title for the show and the date of its premiere--03.31.13—to stare at, a strong, spooky female voice tells us, "The great war is between death and life, ice and fire. If we lose, the night will never end.”
Who is the voice? Hard to tell. But it’s a subtle nod to George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series, upon which the show is based. The swords in the visual are also suggestive of A Storm of Swords, the third book in the series. The third season of “Game of Thrones” will be based loosely upon the first half of A Storm of Swords.
In fact, writers of the show credit the third novel of the series for sparking the idea of adapting it to the small screen. Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weisse are excited to shoot a particularly memorable scene from the book. They plan to shoot both the third and fourth season of the show simultaneously.
Since the show moves between the novels rather that sticking entirely to chronology, this will make shooting both more difficult and more convenient in other senses.
The teaser aired before “Boardwalk Empire,” and “Game of Thrones” fans seems to be forgiving of the fact that it does and says… well, just about nothing.
What do you think, “Game of Throne” fans? Is your appetite whet?
