[Video] New 'Carrie' Trailer Promises to Bring Down the House

Set to be released in October of this year, the latest adaptation of Stephen King’s novel “Carrie” looks better than ever.

This latest adaptation, written by playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, is said to be a remake of the original 1976 film, but also a more ‘faithful’ adaptation of the Stephen King novel. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has had experience with Stephen King’s work in the past, adapting his lengthy novel “The Stand” into an equally lengthy comic book series.

“Carrie” centers around a girl named Carrietta (Carrie) White who is ruthlessly bullied in high school. She uses her newly discovered telekinetic powers to exact her revenge upon those who teased her, eventually destroying her whole town.

This story, of course, has been told time and time again. First with the movie in 1976. Then a sequel was produced (“The Rage: Carrie 2”) in 1999. Then in 2002, a made-for-television version was produced. Even a (failed) Broadway musical was produced based on the novel, and eventually revived again in 2006.

When Stephen King heard about this remake, he commented, “The real question is why, when the original was so good?” He also went on to suggest that none other than Lindsay Lohan play the lead.

The latest film adaptation stars Kick-Ass’s Chloë Grace Moretz as Carrie White, and the legendary Julianne Moore as her mother, Margaret White.

The film is set to be released October 18th, 2013. Just in time for Halloween.
