Video: Honey Boo Boo's New Hit
by Shannon KeirnanLeave it to Jimmy Kimmel.
“Jimmy Kimmel Live” managed to create the newest obnoxious but totally catchy Internet viral video. Say goodbye to Gangnam Style… reluctantly.
The video takes a clip from “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” star, Alana, where she is discussing her opinion on her openly gay uncle, “Uncle Poodle.”
Despite the complete lack of functional English in that statement, it’s kind of sweet. Especially since Alana’s family hails from the deep South and her entire family touts their redneck heritage like they’re of royal blood, it’s refreshing of them to break (one, at least) a major stereotype.
“Ain’t nothing wrong bein’ a little gay. Everybody’s a little gay,” the sassy little lady tells the camera.
Sounds a little like Alana’s just regurgitating what she’s been told growing up—honestly, how many 7-year-olds think that there’s a little gay in all of us?—but her acceptance sets… oh, man, this is rough, I literally never thought I’d say this… Honey Boo Boo’s acceptance sets a good example for America.
But what’s even more entertaining than Honey Boo Boo’s open acceptance of gays is what Kimmel’s who did with the clip.
In case little Alana’s forward-thinking opinions weren’t catchy enough, “Kimmel Live” hit the clip with the autotune, and now, forever onward, those two little sentences will be stuck in the back of your brain bouncing around to a catchy beat.
It doesn’t really require a lot of explanation, honestly. You’ve got the lyrics, now you just need to experience the beauty of Alana’s well-timed dance moves and enthusiastic belly-grabbing.
