VH1 Pulls Ochocinco Reality Show
by Shannon Keirnan
VH1 has made a surprisingly tasteful move following the new case against Chad Ochocinco, and pulled from its lineup the unaired reality show, “Ev and Ocho.”
The show was supposed to debut on September 3rd, and followed the celebrity couple through their lives, but in the wake of the domestic assault charges being brought against the player the station has announced:
“Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series ‘Ev and Ocho’ from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it.”
Bad news for the guy who won our hearts on “Dancing with the Stars.” The dropping of his show follows on the heels of getting downright booted off of the Dolphins, who were quick to terminate his contract.
Well, it’s hard to feel bad for the guy. The massive, heavily-muscled man did head butt his “Basketball Wives” star and spouse, Evelyn Lozada, during a domestic dispute, although Ochocinco maintains that Lozada leaned towards him, and they innocently butted heads.
Lozada says differently, that the athlete leaned over and head butted her, and since Ochocinco has a good height distance on his wife, we find it hard to picture her leaning over and making contact without some serious forethought and planning, and maybe a stool of some kind.
Regardless of who did the leaning, Lozada has some nasty lacerations on her forehead, and spent several hours in the hospital, while the unharmed Ochocinco is feeling the backlash of his actions.
Ochocinco was arrested, and released from jail on $2,500 bond. He was charged with a misdemeanor of simple domestic battery. News about his drop from the team, and from VH1, was shortly to follow.
Frankly, after the Chris Brown incident, it’s nice to see a domestic abuse case dealt with so quickly and thoroughly, and I applaud both VH1 and the Dolphins for making a stand against domestic violence.
