'The Vampire Diaries' Spin-off 'The Originals' Casts a New Series Regular

A spin-off of the wildly popular “The Vampire Diaries” is set to be introduced in an upcoming episode that airs April 25th.
“The Originals” will star some familiar faces – Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, and Phoebe Tonkin – and introduce newcomer Daniella Pineda.
“The Originals” will focus on the Original family of vampires.
Klaus (Joseph Morgan) returns to the French Quarter of New Orleans and is reunited with Marcel, a vampire that he turned who has since risen to power. Elijah (Daniel Gillies) hopes to help his self-destructive brother find redemption, and, to do so, must team up with Marcel’s enemies in order to keep Klaus in check.
Pineda is set to play Sophie, a witch whose magic has been “silenced but not snuffed”. She is a natural-born leader, and a sexy, sharp-tongued social pariah. She uses those skills to try to start a revolution amongst her peers.
