'Vampire Diaries' Season 4: Read the Synopsis for the First Episode

Well, we still can't offer you any footage from the season four premiere of "The Vampire Diaries," as it seems that the promotional bonanza for the fall season hasn't quite kicked in yet (we bet they're waiting for the end of the Olympics).

What we do have, though, are the titles for the first two episodes of the fourth season, as well as a brief synopsis of the first episode. Intrigued? Read on, but be warned that there might be some spoilers.

The premiere episode for "The Vampire Diaries" season 4 will be titled "Growing Pains," and considering where we left Elena at the end of season 3, that makes perfect sense. Elena will be adjusting to her new life as a vampire, but according to statements from EP Julie Plec, that won't be too easy for her, especially keeping Stefan's past in mind.

The synopsis for the first episode supports that idea:

"Elena will begin to transition into a vampire, during which she will no doubt endure both physical and emotional changes. And even though she chose Stefan over Damon, once memories from previous compulsion flood back, she’ll have even more to be confused about."

Plec also noted that there will be a "powerful death sequence" early in the fourth season, and sure enough, the title for the second episode is "Memorial." That's bad news, as it indicates that whoever ends up dying is going to be someone that we care about. Who could it be?
