Episode 'Vampire Diaries' Season 2, Episode 19 - 'Klaus' Recap "I believe the term you're looking for is OMG."

OMG indeed!  As Elena quickly finds out from a freshly undaggered Elijah, he and Klaus are brothers!  Actually, they are half-brothers since it turns out Klaus is the bastard son of a werewolf.  Bless you Show for making it possible for me to type that sentence.

The whole ancient Aztec Sun-and-Moon Curse that has been one of our main plot engines this season turns out to be a big old fake.  Klaus and Elijah made it up back in the days of the medieval mullet.

The real curse is one specifically levied on Klaus to prevent him from being able live as a full-time badass were-vamp hybrid.  The industrious undead brothers faked the curse and hilariously, the accompanying scrolls, cave paintings and global mythological errata, in order to get werewolves, vamps, and witches all over the world looking for all the necessary components to break it.

Meanwhile, Damon and the foxy news reporter he is apparently still biting and banging, pay a visit to Katherine and sneak her some vervain.  So, she is theoretically back on Team Salvatore Saves Elena At All Costs.  Again.

Klaus finally evicts himself from Alaric’s body, but not before terrorizing Aunt Jenna with a creepy crudité lunch in which she finally finds out vampires are real and everyone knew about it except her.  A legitimate freakout ensues.

After spending the whole day together flashbacking, pinky-swearing their loyalty, and making friendship bracelets, Elijah tells Elena Klaus’ real endgame is to break the curse and create his own hybrid vamp-wolf super race.  Gross.

Oh and by the way, Elijah figured out a way to spare the doppleganger’s life while still killing Klaus and putting the kibosh on his supernatural eugenic ambitions.

Tune in next week to see Damon find a well-intentioned but extremely poorly executed way to screw that plot twist up big time.
