'Vampire Diaries' Earns 6 'Teen Choice Awards 2012' Nominations
by Andy NeuenschwanderIt's that time of year again: time for summer, which means the award shows for kids with summer vacations (you lucky kids, you) will be airing soon. Among them is the "Teen Choice Awards" show, which just revealed this year's nominees.
Leading the pack is "The Vampire Diaries," which just finished its season three run with an eventful and drama-filled episode. The CW show is nominated Choice Fantasy/Sci-Fi Series, where it will compete with "Supernatural," "Fringe," "Once Upon a Time" and "True Blood."
Meanwhile "Vampire Diaries" stars Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley are nominated for Choice Fantasy/Sci-Fi Series Actor, while Nina Dobrev and Kat Graham are nominated for the female counterpart to that category. Somerhalder also landed a nomination in the Choice Male Hottie category, along with Robert Pattinson, Justin Bieber, Liam Hemsworth and Ryan Gosling.
Speaking of Bieber, the pop star landed five nominations himself, including nominations for his music and for his fashion taste. "American Idol" tied Bieber with five nominations, one for the show itself and nominations for judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, as well as for last year's finalists Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery.
The awards show added a new category for Choice Book this year, restoring some hope in humanity. Those hopes are mostly dashed with the list, though, which includes The Twilight Saga, The Lucky One, the Divergent trilogy, The Hunger Games and The Giver. Hey, at least The Giver made it on there.
