'V' Star Morena Baccarin Wastes No Time Finding New Work, Lands Role On Showtime's 'Homeland'

'V' Star Morena Baccarin Wastes No Time Finding New Work, Lands Role On Showtime's 'Homeland' "V" star Morena Baccarin probably barely stayed in the unemployment line long enough to get her place warm.

The breakout alien of ABC's reboot of the 1983 alien-invasion miniseries of the same name has landed a role on Showtime's post-Iraq War drama "Homeland," reports TV Line, a mere two weeks after learning that ABC had cancelled her other show.

Baccarin will replace Laura Fraser as the wife of Marine Sergeant Scott Brody, played by Damian Lewis. Brody has just returned home from eight years missing in Iraq when CIA agent Carrie Anderson (played by Claire Danes) suspects he's planning an attack against the United States. Fraser played Brody's wife in the pilot episode only.

During her run on "V," Baccarin played beautiful, charismatic Anna, the leader of the "Visitors" who attempts to convince mankind that her people are a peaceful race who just want a small sample of the planet's resources in exchange for sharing their technology, and not a race that's been covertly infiltrating mankind's power structure for years awaiting the right time for an invasion.

"V" rode a polarizing wave across its two-year run on ABC.

Entertainment Weekly heaped high praise on the show in 2008, listing it among the best sci-fi TV in the last 25 years. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the New York Times in called it "formulaic" and "slapdash" in its storytelling. The first season premire scored a 67/100 score on Metacritic, but the second season opener dropped to 49/100.
