Upcoming '30 Rock' Will Parody Tracy Morgan's Gay-Slur Rant

Upcoming '30 Rock' Will Parody Tracy Morgan's Gay-Slur Rant While saying "30 Rock" star Tracy Morgan's gay slur-laden rant during a Nashville stand-up performance this past summer has "blown over" would probably be an overstatement, it is probably now time that "30 Rock" not only satirize it but jest about it with perhaps a nugget of truth.

Enough time has apparently passed that MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts, who is openly gay, had no problem stepping into a cameo for the upcoming episode. Roberts stepped up when previous cameo choice and fellow anchor Martin Bashir developed a schedule conflict.

Though the married heterosexual Bashir's appearance didn't pan out, having Roberts step in could lend the "30 Rock" writers some interesting opportunities in chemistry where he could possibly play off Morgan addressing in-character via Tracy Jordan a pivotal point in the "Saturday Night Live" alum's career.

Story-wise, a whole new lynchmob ends up being led by another guest star who clearly doesn't mind poking a little fun at herself.

"Well, you know how a lot of their episodes mirror their lives," Roberts explained, per The Huffington Post. "Liz Lemon writes Tracy (Jordan's) apology on the show and says he's not a homophobe, he's an idiot. That offends idiots, so while NBC is being picketed by the LBGT community, now it's also being picketed by idiots led be Denise Richards. She's the leader of the idiots."

Roberts didn't detail his role specifically or even whether he could confirm that he would interact with the Tracy Jordan character, but did say that the issue at hand hits him close enough that he couldn't pass up the opportunity.

"I know for me, when I went through this [coming out] in 2006, I couldn't be happier," Thomas said. "Now, here it is five years later, almost six years later. I'm so glad that I did it then. I see emails from kids that say 'Thank you.' I'm a reluctant role model, because I know that I'm going to mess up. Whether it's today or in the future, you know, it happens. I like to be an example of somebody who is out there, who is chasing after their dreams, and can talk about it openly and honestly, and can blend the personal and professional in an open and honest way."
