Universal Studios Creating 'Fast & Furious' Thrill Ride
by Andy NeuenschwanderFire up your engines: Universal Studios is making a "Fast & Furious" ride!
The Hollywood location of the Universal Studios theme park has just announced a new addition, based on the popular movie franchise. And, of course, it's timed out with the release of the new movie.
The thrill ride, which is named "Fast & Furious: Supercharged," won't be putting fans in the driver's seat of any fancy sports cars, though. Rather, the ride's premise is that one of the Universal lot tour trams has been supercharged to keep up with the high-speed racing seen in the movie.
Of course, the trams won't actually be racing around the Universal lot; rather, the bus will be surrounded by 400-foot-long movie screens that will play out a "Fast & Furious" themed scene, while motion of the tram will simulate speeds "over 100 miles per hour." No word yet on whether the scene will feature acting from any of the stars of the franchise.
The ride is set to debut at Universal Studios Hollywood in 2015, the same year that "Fast & Furious 7" premieres. The sequel has been in the headlines a lot over the past months, following the untimely death of star Paul Walker. As a result of his fatal car accident, production was halted and rescheduled on the movie, only recently resuming last month.
Universal released a promotional poster showing some concept art for the ride, which you can see below.
