'Two and a Half Men' Gets Renewed... But Will Angus T. Jones Return?
by Shannon KeirnanThe fate of “Two and a Half Men” has been secured for at least one more season; but that of cast member Angus T. Jones is still up in the air.
CBS has ordered an eleventh season of the show, which now stars Jon Cryer and Ashton Kutcher. Jones, who plays Cryer’s on-screen son Jake Harper, will not be returning as a regular. He is currently in negotiation for a recurring role throughout the season.
Jones stirred up some controversy by biting the proverbial hand that feeds him after he was filmed calling the show “filth” and begging audiences to stop watching.
He later apologized publically, but has also expressed an interest in attending college, which would make a regular role difficult regardless of his feelings toward the character.
Cryer and Kutcher have signed a one-year deal. With CBS only approaching one season at a time, it brings into question whether or not the series will be around much longer.
Cryer, however, won himself an Emmy last season for Best Lead Actor to add to his Best Supporting Actor when Charlie Sheen was considered the main character. Kutcher is raking in a rumored $700,000 per episode. After Kutcher joined the show (following Sheen’s infamous meltdown and exit in season nine), there was concern about the fate of the show. However, ratings remained strong, and fans stay optimistic.
Last season featured a storyline for Jones that had his character Jake in the army, and allowed for fewer appearances per season. Will Jake Harper be quickly phased out of the show?
