'Twin Peaks' Rebooting with New Episodes on Showtime

David Lynch's game-changing drama series "Twin Peaks" will be returning with an all-new season, 25 years after the show was cancelled. The new episodes will be a continuation of the original series, as opposed to a reboot or remake.
Lynch and co-creator Mark Frost made the announcement on Twitter with a reference-filled tweet: "Dear Twitter Friends: That gum you like is going to come back in style! #damngoodcoffee," they wrote.
"The mysterious and special world of Twin Peaks is pulling us back," they added in a statement, confirming the news. "We’re very excited. May the forest be with you."
The strange and metaphysical drama turned heads when it premiered at the start of the 1990s, but was cancelled after two seasons in 1991. The series had a number of loose ends in terms of plotlines, some of which were revisited in the subsequent movie "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me."
The new episodes will reportedly pick up where the old ones left off, with the hope of resolving some of those plotlines.
If you're not yet a "Twin Peaks" fan or you feel like you'll need a refresher, the entire original series will be airing on Showtime in preparation for the release of the new episodes.
