The 'Twin Peaks' Reboot With David Lynch is Back On!
by Shannon KeirnanDon't worry, "Twin Peaks" fans. Things were touch-and-go for a bit, but it looks like the classic television series reboot is back on track, with David Lynch stepping back in his rightful place at the helm.
Lynch took to Twitter to reassure everyone of the return of their beloved "Twin Peaks."
"Dear Twitter Friends," he wrote. "The rumors are not what they seem... It is Happening again. #TwinPeaks returns on @SHO-Network."
The tweet was retweeted over 9,000 times in just a few hours. Sounds like people are pretty excited.
One of those fans is former "Twin Peaks" actor Kyle MacLachlan, who responded to the news by tweeting, "Welcome back again!! #TwinPeaks Special Agent Dale Cooper! on #Showtime #damnfinecoffee."
Last autumn, US Television Network Showtime had announced that they would be bringing back "Twin Peaks" as a limited series for 2016 - 25 years after the original show ended. Showtime had green-lit 9 episodes, with series creators Lynch and Mark Frost back to write and direct.
However in April, Lynch told his loyal fans that there was a hiccup. After more than a year of negotiations, Lynch announced, "I left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done."
"Twin Peaks" aired in 1990 and 1991 before the surreal murder-mystery series ended. It was followed by the film "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me."
Clearly, even over 20 years later, the show has maintained its loyal fan base. Welcome back!
