'Twilightland?' Stephanie Meyer Addresses a 'Twilight' Theme Park

“Twilight” writer Stephanie Meyer may love her characters, but that doesn’t mean she wants to hang out with them.
Meyer was recently promoting an adaption of “Austenland” for Sundance—a film in where people can go and spend a weekend pretending to be in a Jane Austen novel—when she was asked if she would ever consider building a real-life “Twilightland.”
"It would be so boring! What, would you go to high school? Would you have to go to high school for it? That's not a vacation. Sounds awful. I don't want to go back to high school,” was her emphatic response.
“I guess you could have a mechanical vampire that you ride piggyback," joked. “That would be a liability issue, I think. You could fall right off."
So no rubbing elbows with Edward Cullen, folks.
However, when it comes to the 19th century, Meyer is all about it.
"I love Jane Austen," she said. "The character in the story is kind of my inner nerd girl. I'm unashamed of the fact that if there were a resort like this, that would be my next holiday… It's kind of like an adult version of playing Barbies, right? You get to have the beautiful dream house and all these beautiful Ken dolls and Barbies and make them act out your scenes."
“Austendland” was written by Meyer’s good friend Shannon Hale, and stars Keri Russell as Jane, who is bored with modern day life and escapes to a Jane Austen-themed British country home, where for the right price, participants can pay to pretend they’re in a Jane Austen novel.
