TV Ratings: 'Two and a Half Men' Dives, 'Terra Nova' Premieres Soft

TV Ratings: 'Two and a Half Men' Dives, 'Terra Nova' Premieres Soft The big premiere of "Terra Nova" was Monday night, and Fox had high hopes for the $5 million pilot. If you had spent that kind of money, wouldn't you?

Sadly, the numbers didn't really turn out in Fox's favor. The series premiere drew in 9 million total viewers with a 3.0 in the demo. Those numbers aren't terrible, but they aren't great either, especially considering the scope and cost of the series.

Reviews for the show, meanwhile, were mostly mixed... so it remains to be seen whether word of mouth will help the show grow its audience in the coming weeks. "Terra Nova" will need the help, as it's on a fairly competitive night.

Speaking of that competition, "Two and a Half Men" returned for its second week following the monstrous premiere it enjoyed last week. The show took a sharp dive in ratings, but that's to be expected when you premiere to 30 million viewers, many of whom are only watching because of their curiosity over the Charlie Sheen debacle. However, "Men" still drew 20 million total viewers and a 7.2 rating in the demo, which is a drop of about 30% but still a great night for the sitcom.

Other notables include the season premiere of "Gossip Girl" on the CW, which drew 1.4 million with a 0.8 rating, and the CW's new show "Hart of Dixie" starring Rachel Bilson, which premiered to 1.8 million and a 0.8, following "Gossip Girl."
