True Grit welcomes New Year topping the box office

True Grit increased by 72% compared to last Friday’s ticket sales and recorded a total of $70.5 million in earnings for the first 10 days in theaters.

The western movie starring Academy award winners Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon including newly discovered actress Haile Steinfield surpassed the comedy Little Fockers starring Ben Stiller, Robert DeNiro and Owen Wilson in the box office.

Little Fockers earned $7.8 million Friday making the movie to earn approximately $84.7 million. Families are expected to watch the comedy film this weekend and there’s a big probability that it will top the weekend box office

Tron: Legacy a sci-fi adventure movie also starring Jeff Bridges with Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde, rank no. 3 with $5 million earnings on Friday.

Family movies,Yogi Bear ranked fourth with $4.1 million while The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader made it to the fifth rank in the box office with $3.5 million.
