'True Detective' Gets Spoofed By 'The Soup' - Watch Now!
by Andy Neuenschwander"True Detective" has never made more sense.
In anticipation of the season finale of HBO's hit show "True Detective," Joel McHale and "The Soup" have put together a parody of the show, along with a little help from "Community" star Jim Rash.
In the video, McHale and Rash take on the roles of Matthew McConaughey's Rust Cohle and Woody Harrelson's Marty Hart, respectively. But their interpretation is a little different.
Playing off both the sometimes convoluted details of the show, as well as the thick accents, McHale and Rash deliver gibberish while the rest of the fake "True Detective" co-stars struggle to figure out just what the heck they're saying.
The result is a hilarious string of words like "Gooner," "Gleebel" and of course "catchy catchy catchy bing-bong."
The sketch just goes to show how quickly word of "True Detective" has spread: The show has only an eight-episode run for its first season, but the mysterious nature of the show and the slow reveal of the big whodunit has captivated fans and led to many Internet theories as to who the "Yellow King" is.
HBO hasn't yet renewed the show, but it's all but certain to happen. However, "True Detective" was meant to be an anthology show; so much like "American Horror Story," each new season will feature new characters, a new setting, and very likely new actors. So don't expect McConaughey and Harrelson to return for season two.
