'True Blood' Season Four: What's Up With These Witches?

'True Blood' Season Four: What's Up With These Witches? Bon Temps already has vampires, werewolves, faeries, shapeshifters, and even werepanthers. But in the upcoming season of "True Blood," it's about to get some new residents: witches.

Executive producer Alexander Woo and some of the stars of "True Blood" spoke to THR about the role of the witches in the coming season. "I’d say the witches certainly pose the greatest threat to the vampires that we’ve seen yet," said Woo.

"I think what they represent is the power of the human spirit and sort of the power of life,” Woo added. “Whereas, vampires are the dead. They represent death and it’s the contrast of life versus death, with human versus vampire that I think is the crux of this season. And the very thing that allows the vampires to be animated is the thing that the witches can control."

So if the witches control what makes vampires able to walk, talk, and fight over faerie women, that could understandably make the vampires a little uncomfortable.

Kristin Bauer, who plays Pam, certainly thinks so. "You know they’re not going to throw something at you or throw a punch at you," Bauer explains. "They are going to do spells and things that you can’t predict, you can't know, and you can’t react to necessarily in a physical way. So that creates chaos."

Chaos? In Bon Temps? Never!

With "Harry Potter" alum Fiona Shaw (who played Aunt Petunia) playing the awkward but powerful Marnie, the leader of the new coven of witches, that chaos should make for an exciting season of "True Blood"...not to mention the fact that Sookie is dealing with vampires who want her blood, a love quadrangle, and the queen of the faeries (who isn't quite what she seems).

Tune in tonight for the season four premiere of "True Blood," and let us know what you think about it!
