'True Blood' Could Come Back from the Dead As a Musical
by Andy NeuenschwanderLooks like "True Blood" might not meet its True Death after all!
The show is set to begin its seventh and final season this Sunday, but if the show's composer gets his way, that won't be the last you see of Sookie Stackhouse.
In fact, "True Blood" might come back from the dead as a Broadway musical! An AP article featuring an interview with "True Blood" musical composer Nathan Barr has some details:
"Barr said the musical will revolve around protagonist, telepath and waitress Sookie Stackhouse, portrayed in the series by Anna Paquin. But, Barr added, after seven seasons of twists, turns and characters for Sookie, it's proven a challenge to trim the saga down. 'I think we're really going to try to return to the roots of the show,' Barr commented."
From that, we can infer that the musical would probably revolve around Sookie and Bill and not feature many of the show's subplots and extraneous characters. Those who have watched the most recent seasons of the show will probably rejoice at that concept: We miss Terry, but that whole Ifrit sub-plot was pretty weird.
There's no guarantee that the musical will happen, but Barr is optimistic about it. We're just wondering how much nudity we can expect. That might influence which row we choose when we buy our tickets.
