'True Blood' Casts New Role in the Warlow Mystery

'True Blood' Casts New Role in the Warlow Mystery It will be many months before "True Blood" returns, but we can always count on casting news to reveal a few possible plot points here and there.

Take this one, for example: "True Blood" has cast veteran actor Rutger Hauer in a new role as a series regular, according to THR. The word is that Hauer's character will have a "deep and dark connection" to Jason and Sookie Stackhouse. Given where we left off with the show, it's likely that he's involved with the Warlow storyline somehow.

But before you go thinking that Hauer, who looks a bit like an old vampire even in real life, will actually play Warlow, you should know that his character name is Macklyn. So, there goes that idea. But perhaps he knows Warlow, given his age. Right?

Hauer has a long list of credits, many of which are genre films: he appeared in "Blade Runner" and, more recently, as the creepy priest in "Sin City" and the snotty board member in "Batman Begins." He also has a couple of Dracula movies and an arc on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" under his belt, so it should be no problem for him to jump into the "True Blood" universe.

If Macklyn is a vampire, and he is connected to the murder of Sookie and Jason's parents through Warlow, he'd better watch out: Jason has gotten pretty good at this whole vampire slaying thing.
