Trouble on the Market: 'Flip or Flop' Stars Split Up

The married stars of HGTV's Flip or Flop, Tarek and Christina El Moussa, are splitting up, according to news reports, but the cable network says that the real-estate reality will continue production as scheduled.

News of the separation comes several months after reports that police had been called to the couple's Orange County, California, home as a result of a domestic disturbance. Police came to the home, reportedly, because witnesses alerted them to a suicidal male with a gun on the premises. After the incident, police reportedly confiscated several firearms, including an AR-15 assault rifle.

The couple has also been at the center of controversy in recent months regarding their real-estate seminars. Attendees of the seminars claimed that after paying hefty fees to attend, they were subjected to sales pitches for even more expensive products rather than being taught real estate secrets as promised. Attendees also complained that the El Moussas' involvement in the seminars was limited to a pre-recorded video, not a personal appearance.

The El Moussas said in a statement that they are committed to working together professionally, and HGTV says that the development in the couple's personal life will not affect the series. Flip or Flop is the cable network's second-highest rated series, behind the renovation reality series Fixer Upper.
