'Trophy Wife' Season 1, Episode 21: 'Mother's Day' Recap

Kate worries that, for her first Mother's Day, she doesn't seem like a mom. Pete tries to comfort her (sexually) but they're distracted by news on the television - a major oil company Pete represents has spilled into the ocean.

Warren and Bert hide gifts from Kate, who is touched. Jackie and Diane flatter her that she's one of the family now, and to celebrate they want to let her have the kids for Mother's Day. Kate loves the idea.

She wants the kids to get great gifts for their moms as repayment, so they try to find something personal and memorable. They settle on getting Jackie a chicken, and recreating a Flemish masterpiece for Diane. However when they go to deliver the gifts, neither are home.

Kate snoops, and realizes the two have gone on vacation.

She goes to Pete's office, where he is being prepared to become the "face of evil," as his company has decided to put him in charge of spinning the oil spill in a positive light. Kate is determined to hunt down Jackie and Diane and shame them. They find Sad Steve and Bert works it out of him where the women have gone.

Kate finds them enjoying a nice hotel and spa treatments, and begins fighting Diane in the pool, getting pulled in. She yells at them for misleading her and taking off.

On camera, Pete faints. Jackie gets a text from Steve that Pete has had a heart attack, and they all rush to the hospital.

However Pete has only experienced severe indigestion from his stress eating, and is fine.

Kate confronts Jackie and Diane and explains that she had felt like part of the family for once with the things that they said, and she wants to be close with them but felt left out. They apologize and tell her she is part of the family now, that is true.

Kate tells Pete he should quit his job since it's making him so miserable. Everyone goes back to the hotel room to play and relax.
