'Trophy Wife' Season 1, Episode 19: 'The Minutes' Recap
by Shannon KeirnanKate is excited to go to her first PTA meeting, which Diane runs with an iron fist. As she's snacking, Diane chokes. Kate tries to help her but she keeps running away. Finally Kate grabs her and does the heimlich manuever, saving her.
Of course, she gets no thank you. Annoyed by this, she complains to Pete, who tells her she never will get one. Kate makes up a care package to bring to Diane, whose ribs are recovering, complete with two seasons of "Scandal." Diane refuses to thank her and says she "overreacted."
At the next meeting, everyone takes a vote to send Diane home so she can continue to recover. Upset, she leaves, and Kate takes over.
Hillary comes home in a cloud. She has demanded her crush, Evan Kramer, take her to the dance and he agreed. Pete knows his parents, his old neighbors, and relives a feud he had with them over a garden hose. He decides to forbid Hillary to go with Evan, but when he goes back to talk with her, finds out his parents had the same idea. Hillary begs him to go and speak with the Kramers and try to work things out.
Needing a date of his own, Warren sends a video to a celebrity (Vanessa Hudgens), and gets a e-mail from her manager that she will go to the dance with him. When Hillary watches the video she realizes Warren has accidentally made it seem as if he is terminally ill.
Sent home, Diane is on the couch, bored. Her maid puts in the "Scandal" dvd and Diane becomes hooked.
Pete goes to talk with the Kramer's, who are confused about the situation. They call out Evan, who says he lied, but he's afraid of Hillary and didn't know how to say no to her.
At the PTA meeting, Kate runs everything smoothly, and her impressions kill, especially of the principal. However one of the women, Iris, who Kate shut down on the idea of a girl's squash team, notes that she is taking the minutes of the meeting, and has typed up every word.
Kate talks to her and she agrees to remove the insults... if Kate puts the budget surplus toward a squash team. Kate goes to Diane for help, and, motivated by her show, they get dirt on Iris. They realize that her daughter's grades are low, and she wants her to go to Wellesley. Her only hope is to get her in on a squash scholarship... and also she is using the PTA laptop for personal use. Iris agrees to delete the minutes.
Pete tries to tell Hillary the truth about Evan, but when she wants to go speak with Evan, he instead tells her she is forbidden to go with him, and takes the heat.
Kate, teamed with Diane, promises that if ever Diane needs her help again, she'll do the right thing and stand and watch her die.
