'Trick 'r Treat' Sequel on the Way
by EGWhen you're looking for the perfect scary movie to watch this Halloween, you're going to have to watch "Trick 'r Treat" one more time, but if all goes according to plan, there will be a sequel to the 2007 cult-hit horror movie in the, presumably, near future.
According to Bloody Disgusting, Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull made the announcement during a screening of the original film at Beyond Fest in Hollywood. During a question-and-answer session, director Michael Dougherty was asked if he'd make a sequel, to which he replied that it was "Legendary's call." At that point, Tull stood up in the audience and said, "Let's make a sequel!" The announcement had clearly been staged, given that the question was asked via a note presented by someone in the costume of the film's central character.
"Trick 'r Treat" is a direct-to-video film starring Anna Paquin, Brian Cox and Leslie Bibb. It's an anthology of four interwoven stories framed by the misadventures of a diminutive and murderous creature—the spirit of Halloween—dressed in an orange costume and spooky burlap mask. Since its release in 2007, "Trick 'r Treat" has become a beloved go-to movie for horror movie fans.
Given the timing of the announcement, "Trick 'r Treat 2" is unlikely to be ready for 2014 but could done in time for Halloween 2015.
